STEPS TO CHOOSE BEST INVERTER BATTERY:

To make the best choice out of the top 10, we will have to understand our unique needs with the inverter battery. So, before going into a detailed review of each inverter battery, let’s first understand the steps to choose the best inverter battery for your home, office, etc.

CALCULATE THE BATTERY CAPACITY YOU REQUIRE:

Depending on how many appliances you need to power and how long of a power backup you need, you’ll have to calculate the battery capacity you need.

SELECT THE TYPE OF BATTERY YOU WANT

There are 3 major types of inverter batteries. The most popular one and the one you should ideally go with is a tubular battery.

COMPARE BEST KNOWN INVERTER BATTERIES :

Further in this article, I’ve listed the top 10 inverter battery in India along with pros, cons, top benefits, etc. You can go through the list and compare them according to your requirements.

CHOOSE THE PLACE FROM WHERE YOU BUY THE BATTERY:

You can choose to buy from local manufactures or you can buy from a trusted online source like Amazon.

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND WHILE CHOOSING BEST INVERTER BATTERY:

let’s talk about a few main things that you should keep in mind while making a choice.

1. BATTERY CAPACITY:

Battery capacity is an important factor when choosing the right battery for your inverter. Not all batteries are built to provide you with what capacity you need, so one has to calculate the capacity requirement before taking a purchase decision.

The capacity you need for your inverter depends on the number of hours a day there’s a power cut, how many appliances are plugged into it at once, the Input voltage of the battery, and the efficiency level of the battery.

To find out how much capacity battery your home requires, use this inverter battery capacity calculator.

2. BATTERY TYPE:

There are 3 types of inverter batteries. Now, I’ll not bore you by going into the technical stuff as we only want to focus on choosing the best battery for inverter ourselves.

So, here I’m listing the main pros and cons of each type:

FLAT PLATE BATTERY:

These are first-generation batteries. They require high maintenance and are outdated nowadays. In short, they are not recommended.

TUBULAR BATTERY:

These batteries are more efficient, have around 5 years of life, and need relatively low maintenance. They are popularly used nowadays.

MAINTAINENCE FREE BATTERIES:

As the name says, these batteries need no maintenance but their shortcoming is that they have a shorter lifespan and are expensive.

Recommended: Tubular Battery

3. WARRANTY:

While you are making your buying decision, it is important to keep in mind the warranty period that different manufacturers offer.

The inverter battery manufacturers usually provide two types of warranties:

Free-of-charge (FOC): which guarantees repair or replacement if something goes wrong with the product during this time frame;

and

Pro-rata: where some money will have to be paid for getting repairs after the FOC warranty period expires.

4. CUSTOMER REVIEWS

We all want to buy the best product for our money, but how do we know which one is the best? There are many factors that go into making a purchase decision.

One of these factors is customer reviews. Customer reviews give us an idea of what other people think of the product and can help make sure you don’t end up with a dud.

They help you find out if there are any major problems with the product, experience of other customers before purchasing the one.

5. COMPATABILITY:

Before purchasing a battery for an inverter, consider the brand of your inverter and prefer to go with one that matches. If you’re facing issues with the battery provided by your inverters’ own brands, look into ones like luminous or amaron as they work well in most cases.

WHICH BATTERY IS BEST FOR INVERTER 2023 ?

This was my list of the 10 best inverter battery in India along with tips and steps to follow while choosing a battery. I’ve made a checklist that will help you remember every step easily.

Best-Inverter-Batteries-In-India

I hope this gave you detailed knowledge about inverter battery and how you should choose one for yourself.

It depends on your needs, which one will best suit your needs.

If you have a 2-3 BHK home and you want a good battery then my go-to recommendation would be Luminous RC 25000 200AH Tubular Battery. It has good backup, performance and you won’t be disappointed.

But, every other battery is also good. This is just a general recommendation for anyone who doesn’t want to think much and needs a good performance. However, the best would be if you understand and calculate your own needs to make a perfect decision.

TIPS TO IMPROVE YOUR INVERTER BATTERY’S LIFE:

Alright, so you have an inverter battery or you are planning to buy one, in any case, you would want to increase inverter battery life and want it to last for many years.

You would see people having the same battery model but for some people, it lasts longer.

Why do you think that happens?

The answer is simple. Care!

You would increase your inverter’s battery life if you care for it.

Caring for it is neither rocket science nor it requires a lot of time investment. All you need is, to give it a little bit of attention.

Here are some tips that you should keep in mind to ensure better battery life:

  • Ensure the battery terminals are clean. If you find something fishy with the battery terminals, you might need to contact the support team of the company.
  • The battery surface gets dirt from time to time. Make sure you clean it with a soft cotton cloth. Keep it as clean as possible.
  • The water level of the battery should not go below the minimum limit. My recommendation would be to check every 30-40 days and ensure that the water level is above the minimum limit.
  • Always keep the battery in an open and airy space. This will help it dissipate the heat with easy and hence keep it as cool as possible.
  • Keep the battery away from any type of heat, fire, smoke, etc. Protect it from catching fire to avoid accidents.
  • Top-up the water with distilled water only. Don’t use tap water as it has impurities that will affect badly.
  • Make sure the battery is in use.
  • Give it an overall maintainence check with the help of expert as per manufacturer guidelines.
  • Keep recommended optimum load and not any overloads, this can keeps the battery healthy and last long.
  • Look for alternate sources of power like solar lights, battery powered electronics etc, and no electricity or battery required electronics like spin mops instead of vaccum cleaners to help you during power failures. These can help you connect only required load to inverters.

Batteries are the main part of an inverter. If keep them with proper care, they’ll serve you for many years to come.

I’m sure that these quick tips will help you.

FAQs : BEST INVERTER BATTERY

1. What is the normal life of the inverter battery?

The lifespan of the battery depends on many different factors like the brand, type of battery, amount of load, frequency of use, and how well a person manages it.

Tubular batteries are most popular these days and their average lifespan is 3-5 years. If you use them with proper care they can even last up to 7 years.

2. How many hours does a 150ah battery last?

It depends on the amount of load you put on the battery. For example, if you put 10A of load then it should last about 15 hours. If you put 150A of load it should last about an hour and so on.

Roughly speaking, if you want to power 3 lights of 40 watts each and 4 fans of 75 watts each, a 150AH battery should last around 4 hours.

If you want a detailed formula to calculate, here it is:

3 Lights of 40 watts each = 3 x 40 = 120 watts
4 fans of 75 watts each = 4 x 75 = 300 watts

Total Load = 300 + 120 = 420 watts

Voltage = 12V

Load on inverter (in Amp) = 420/12 = 35A

Capacity = 150AH

Estimate hours it should last = 150/35 = 4.2 Hours

You may use the time backup calculator to do these calculations easily.

5. Is a higher Ah battery better?

It depends on the amount of use. If you want to power more appliances or you want longer power backup hours, then you should definitely consider going with a higher Ah battery.

However, if more power backup is not your need then higher capacity is not needed.

6. Is it safe to keep an inverter in the bedroom?

If you live in a small apartment, you might be planning to keep your inverter and battery under your bed but it’s not recommended. Many people make the mistake of keeping it in their bedrooms, kitchen, etc.

I would recommend you keep it in an open area like a balcony. The reason behind it is, that most battery emit hydrogen fumes and other gases. However, these fumes are in a safe limit but still, it is recommended that you keep your inverter battery in an open area.

7. Should I switch off my inverter when there is no power cut?

Inverters are designed to automatically switch on and off according to the need. So, if there is a power cut, it will automatically switch to battery mode.

When the power resumes, it will switch to charging mode, and once it is fully charged it will automatically pause the charging.

Therefore, you don’t need to switch the inverter on and off manually, it will automatically take care of itself.

8. Are inverter batteries safe?

As technology improves, batteries are becoming better. they do emit hydrogen fumes and other gases. They also get heated when they are being used or charged but they are not something to be afraid of.

It is recommended to keep it in an open location which would let the heat dissipate. Also, keep it away from fire and smoke.

9. At the time of the power cut, my inverter started beeping and then it shut down. What to do?

If at the time of power cut, your inverter starts beeping and then it shuts down, it usually happens when there is a heavy load on the inverter.

Make sure that there are no heavy load appliances in use. Example – Iron, AC, Refrigerator, etc.

If there is no heavy load appliance in use and it is still beeping, check the water level of the battery.

If the problem is still not solved, your inverter battery might have failed.

10. Do I get a battery with my inverter?

No, inverter and batteries are sold separately. It is up to you which battery you would purchase. But it is recommended to purchase both inverter & battery from same manufacturer or brand. We recommend you to go for Luminous Zelio 1100 + RC 18000 150 ah battery

11. Can I purchase an inverter from one brand and an inverter battery from another brand?

Absolutely. You can purchase an inverter and the battery from two different brands. Your inverter can be compatible with battery of different brands.

12. When should I fill my inverter battery with water?

Normally, you will have to refill the inverter battery every 3-4 months. You can keep a check every 3 months. Make sure you refill it with distilled water and not tap water.
